A PLACE NEAR THE FRONT (Historical Fiction – 2016): The coming-of-age story of a young Trinidadian who arrives at the shores of the U.S. in the early 1900s and journeys through the streets of Harlem and the halls of learning of Howard University to the trenches of World War One France in search of his place in the American promised land.  Serving with the all-Black 92nd Infantry Division, he fights for the rights of Europeans that he can’t enjoy in the US.  And he faces his most insidious enemy – his own military commanders who resent Black officers.

THE BONES OF LOUVERTURE (Historical Fiction – 2022) :  Following the 1987 overthrow of  Haitian dictator, Jean-Claude “Baby-Doc” Duvalier, two street protesters  veer from their mission of helping the troubled nation achieve the promise of its heroic slave-revolt founding.  Disillusioned to see most Haitians still trapped in poverty and voodoo cultism, they abandon their crusade and descend into a world of drugs and crime.  The novel traces the rise and fall of their drug empire and a later struggle for redemption.
